This book made me cry and cry and cry! I kinda knew it would! I love books with animals at its centre, and this one is based upon true events! The characters are great, and the animals are adorable, I would happily have given them all a wonderful new home in the countryside. I highly recommend this books, for children and adults alike, though I feel perhaps an adult may want to read it alongside younger readers, or read it beforehand, as you do get attached and a little upset in places. How did your main character, Joseph, develop? I think it's to do with them being underdogs. I'm definitely intrigued by characters who seem to have very little going for them.
