This kind of paint is very durable, but obviously won’t last forever on functional vehicle tires. Expect to do some touch-up work at least once or twice per year. We spend so much time selecting alloys when we get the chance, it would be a shame to wrap them in grey, tired-looking rubber. A good scrub may remove the grime but, unless the tyres are pretty new, it won’t restore a deep shine.

If you’re laying your tyre on the floor and filling it, we would advise that you line it first. When you’re lining your planter, you want to use a material that allows water to drain through, or you’ll need to create drainage holes. You could use a sheet of plastic of a piece of hessian material. If you choose to use hessian, you can secure it in place with a staple gun. The hessian allows the water to drain efficiently so your plants don’t drown. If you choose to use a plastic sheet, poke a few holes in it using a screwdriver before you secure it to prevent water from sitting in the bottom of the planter. Sadly the same is true of Zeebright for old stoves and Pommade to keep the hair in place! Market forces and shifting needs I guess.
